A Fun & Easy Way to Decorate Cupcakes for a Guy That Loves to Fish!

I have two amazing little brothers. They both love to go fishing. One of them, Zach, is celebrating his 12th birthday next weekend and since he came over for supper last night, I thought I would make him some cupcakes! He very specifically wanted to have strawberry cupcakes with whipped vanilla frosting, but I wanted to add a little spin on it.

I'm totally NOT artistic, so instead of having to draw a fishing pole and fish out of frosting, I thought I would turn to pretzels as the fishing poles and Goldfish snack crackers as the fish.

A bought a squeeze tube of white frosting to make the fishing line. Right next to the frosting I found a container of tips that attach right onto the frosting tube. I also got tubs of whipped frosting, got out my blue food coloring, and bought some pretzel sticks and Goldfish crackers. 

Make up the cupcakes according to the box recipe. Let them cool completely before you start to frost them. I let mine cool overnight.

Add the blue food coloring to the frosting container (I used about 8 drops total to get this shade pictured below). Stir well and apply the frosting. 

On each cupcake, place a pretzel stick (I had to break the end off so it would fit onto the cupcake) and follow with a squiggly line of white frosting for the fishing line. Finish it off with a Goldfish cracker and you're done! :)
